Our Digital Leaders popped in to Year 1 to capture some moments in class.  It was great to see the children enjoying creative activities and lerarning.

Year 1 had a wonderful time celebrating Chinese New Year by making their own vegatable stir fry.  They enjoyed preparing the ingredients and working together in the kitchen.  It was a fun and tasty way to explore the celebration. 

Year 1 enjoyed taking part in a range of games in PE, developing their teamwork, coordination and confidence while learning to follow rules and play fairly. 

Year 1 had great fun playing number bingo.  The children were excited, focused and confident as they practised their number skills.

In Year 1 children consolidate their understanding of comparing numbers and amounts by using practical resources. This helps strengthen their confidence with numbers and values.

For maths topic Year 1 worked together to put coins in order of value, discussing which were worth more and which were worth less. Once this was complete, the children then practised adding different coins together to make a range of totals.

Year 1 had an exciting trip to the local park for their literacy and geography topics. Using their senses, they described the setting – spotting grass, trees, ducks, bridges, and more. The park visit also linked to their Georgraphy topic on the Local Area, where they explored nearby streets and noticed features like traffic lights, shops, bus stops, places of worship, and even red letter boxes. To make it even more fun they left chalk arrrows and enjoyed follwing it back to school!

Year 1 have been learning about natural and artificial materials. The children have enjoyed investigating where materials come from and sorting them into groups discussing their properties. What a great start to their learning.
