Reception have been enjoying break time gathered by the sandbox. With the support of some Year 6 pupils, they practiced digging and using certain tools in the sand to create imaginative worlds and practice their motor skills and problem solving ability. 

Reception children had a wonderful time making pancakes in the kitchen today. Learning to mix, pour, chop and of course taste their delicious creations.

The topic this half term is ‘People Who Help Us’.   Reception children enjoyed using their doctor’s surgery role-play to develop imagination, communication and social skills.  This area has been even more popular since the baby dolls were introduced.

Reception had a wonderful visit to our school library.  The children love exploring the books and listening to engaging stories.  

Our children in Reception learn through play by exploring, creating, and working with others, which builds their skills, confidence, and curiosity in a natural way. 

Reception played a game called ‘ One More’ to help them practise saying and understanding mathmatical terms while having lots of fun.  Next will be ‘One Less!’

The Oaks and Reception brought in their favourite cuddly toys and had a lovely day learning, laughing and having fun together.
In their first week Reception children have been busy settling into their new classroom and routines. They enjoyed exploring the different learning areas, making new friends and getting to know their teachers.
